Your college budget is more than tuition fees
Build a realistic family budget before shortlisting: accommodation, travel, deposits and the questions that prevent surprises.
A useful budget shows both recurring expenses and the cash you need at admission. Ask the institution for a current, written schedule; an old brochure can give the wrong picture.
Separate one-time and recurring costs
List tuition, hostel, mess, transport, books, equipment, examination charges and deposits. Mark each as one-time, per semester or per year. Check whether fees may increase during the course.
Compare like with like
One college may quote semester tuition while another quotes an annual amount. A hostel figure may exclude food. A refundable deposit still affects the amount your family needs up front. Note the period and inclusions next to every number.

Discuss your comfortable limit
Agree a family budget before paying application or counselling charges. Request scholarship terms in writing and distinguish a conditional scholarship from a confirmed award.
Explore colleges by location or talk through your budget. Our directory labels fees that still need verification rather than supplying estimates without evidence.
